These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Hey Krishna mobile application ("Hey Krishna," "the app"). Hey Krishna is operated by Agile Cookies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 13214849), London, United Kingdom ("we," "us," "our").

By downloading, installing or using Hey Krishna, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What Hey Krishna is

Hey Krishna is a bilingual (English and Hindi) mobile application that lets you ask questions about life, dharma, and the Bhagavad Gita, and receive answers in the voice and style of Krishna, grounded in the Bhagavad Gita and Hindu wisdom traditions. The app also offers:

A reader for all 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita.
A voice mode that reads answers aloud using your device's text-to-speech.
A quiz to test your knowledge of the Gita.
Optional daily reminders of a verse from the Gita.

Hey Krishna is offered as a tool for reflection, study and personal interest.

2. Important: not professional advice; not a real person

Hey Krishna's responses are generated by an artificial-intelligence language model, drawing on the Bhagavad Gita and related sources. The app's responses:

Are not the words of any real teacher, priest, deity, or guru.
Are not professional medical, mental-health, legal, financial, spiritual, or religious advice.
May contain errors, inaccuracies, or interpretations you disagree with.
Should not be relied upon as a substitute for qualified professional help.

If you are in crisis, distress, or are considering harming yourself or others, please stop using the app and contact a qualified professional, a trusted person in your life, or your local emergency services.

The app includes crisis-aware safeguards designed to detect certain distress-related questions and respond with a fixed, supportive message rather than an AI-generated answer. These safeguards are best-effort and not guaranteed to catch every case. You should never rely on Hey Krishna as a substitute for professional crisis support.

3. Respect for the Gita and Krishna

Hey Krishna is created with respect for Hindu traditions and the Bhagavad Gita. The app is intended to be a respectful, devotional tool for anyone interested in the Gita's wisdom — whether you are Hindu, of another faith, or of no faith. By using the app, you agree to engage with it in good faith and not to use it to mock, abuse, harass, or denigrate Krishna, the Gita, or any religion or its followers.

4. Account-free use

You do not need to create an account to use Hey Krishna. New installations receive a small number of free questions to begin (currently seven). To continue asking unlimited questions, you can subscribe — see Section 5.

5. Subscriptions, free trials, payment and donations

5.1 Subscriptions. Some features (including unlimited questions) require a paid subscription. Subscription prices and terms are shown in the app before you subscribe.

5.2 How payment works. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account at the price and interval shown in the app, and renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period through your App Store or Google Play account settings.

5.3 Free trials. If a free trial is offered, your subscription begins at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before then.

5.4 Refunds. Refund requests for subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google according to their own policies. See Apple and Google Play refund information.

5.5 Cancellation. You can cancel a subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

5.6 Price changes. We may change subscription prices for new periods and will notify you of material changes in the app before they take effect, in line with applicable Apple and Google rules.

5.7 Donations. The app offers an optional donation feature, processed by Stripe. Donations are voluntary, non-refundable, and do not entitle you to additional features.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the app for any unlawful purpose.
Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the app or its servers.
Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the app or any related system without our prior written consent.
Use the app to generate, transmit or store content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or that depicts or promotes abuse of any kind.
Attempt to use the app to obtain instructions for self-harm, harm to others, or any other unlawful or harmful activity. The app is designed to refuse such requests; circumventing those safeguards is a breach of these Terms.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or otherwise extract the app's underlying data or models, except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Use any automated means to access or use the app at a rate exceeding what a typical human user would generate.

We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you have breached these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

The app, including its user interface, software, designs, original artwork, copy, and the Krishna brand mark, is owned by Agile Cookies Ltd and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws.
The Bhagavad Gita text included in the app is in the public domain.
AI-generated responses produced for you by the app are provided for your personal use and reflection. You may share individual responses informally, but you may not redistribute large extracts of the app's content, the Bhagavad Gita corpus we ship, the curated question-and-answer corpus, or any proprietary parts of the app, without our written permission.
The trademark "Hey Krishna" and the app's logo are property of Agile Cookies Ltd.

8. Privacy

Your use of Hey Krishna is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we do and don't collect, what we do with it, and your rights.

9. Third-party services

To operate Hey Krishna we rely on third parties including a third-party AI provider (for generating responses), RevenueCat (subscription management), the Apple App Store and Google Play (payments and distribution), Stripe (donations), and our hosting provider Fly.io. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their portion of the service. See the Privacy Policy for links.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the app available, but we do not guarantee that it will be available at all times or free of bugs. We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time, with or without notice. We will try to give reasonable advance notice of material changes that affect paying subscribers.

11. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

We do not warrant that the app's responses will be accurate, complete, appropriate, or aligned with any particular religious or philosophical view. The responses are generated by an AI and may be wrong.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the app or these Terms is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, business, or goodwill.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law (for example, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence). If you are a consumer, this Section does not affect your statutory rights.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Agile Cookies Ltd, its directors, employees and agents from any claim, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms or your unlawful or harmful use of the app.

14. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time and uninstall it. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 11, 12 and 13) will survive.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you may also bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the app after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.
